Viktor Tatarsky Appointed Acting Rector of the St. Petersburg State University Of Film And Television

A graduate of the Leningrad State Institute of Culture, he is a member of the Russian Union of Cinematographers and the Russian Directors' Guild, as well as a laureate and participant of numerous domestic and international film festivals. Since 2021, Viktor Tatarsky has been working as an associate professor at the "Fiction Film Directing" department of SPUFT, where he leads his own workshop.

"I am confident that his insider's knowledge of the film industry, coupled with his accumulated experience in mentoring future cinematographers, will have a positive impact on the institute's further development. I wish him luck and new brilliant projects!" noted the Minister of Culture of Russia, Olga Lyubimova.

GIKIT Expands Cooperation with China

From October 23 to 26, SPUFT participated in a conference in Jinan dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the China-Russia International Education Cooperation Alliance (CRIECU). Established in 2020, the alliance includes 28 Chinese universities and 21 Russian higher education institutions.

The Festival programme included the National Scientific Conference called Water Resources – Natural Wealth of Planet Earth and a meeting with a trainer of deep-sea diving specialists, engineer, photographer and cameraman, Nikolay Shestakov, who gave a speech on the topic of Photography in Extreme Conditions.

Films by SPUFT alumni will be shown at the Grenzland-Filmtage Selb International Film Festival

The 47th Grenzland-Filmtage Selb International Film Festival will be held in Selb (Germany) on April, 4-7. The work of Dilshod Avazov (S. Ovcharov’s workshop, the class of 2023) short feature film Niso as well as We mourn directed by Elizaveta Verkhozina (A. Antonov’s class, the class of 2022) will be presented during the main competition stage.

The first stage of the XXIII International Student Film Festival PiterKiT starts on October, 19

The annual Festival will be held in two stages: the first stage (for SPUFT students) –October, 19-23, and the second stage (international) – November, 24-28 in the SPUFT's concert hall (Bukharestskaya street, 22) and in the creative space "Loft" (Pravdy street, 13).

Shooting of the first Russian-Chinese feature film "The Last Drop" started at SPUFT

The film script was selected last autumn at the IV Russian-Chinese pitching of student synopses for film, television and new media "ONEFUTURE". The event was organised by SPUFT, Jilin Animation Institute (Jilin City, China) and SILK ROAD MEDIA production centre.

The film "Days of Doubt" by SPUFT’s student won a prize of the XIII International Youth Film Festival "Light of the World"

The film "Days of Doubt" by Dilshod Avazov, a student of the feature film department of the St. Petersburg State University of Flilm and Television, became a prize-winner of the XIII International Youth Film Festival "Light to the World". The jury awarded the film with three prizes at once.

On 29 July, Natalia Gorina, Head of the Department of Film and Television Production, held a meeting with Evelyn Mutsvanvgwa, Legal Advisor to the Ministry of Youth, Sports, Arts and Recreation of the Republic of Zimbabwe, who was the representative of the official Zimbabwean delegation at the Second Russia-Africa Summit and Economic and Humanitarian Forum held in St. Petersburg on 27-28 July 2023.

The film "Neglekt" directed by Maria Streltsova was included in the program of the Student Academy Awards. The semi-final of the competition will be held in July 2023.

On May 15, a solemn meeting of foreign guests took place at the St. Petersburg State University of Film and Television. Students and teachers from Hainan Normal University were welcomed by representatives of the university. Olga Lyubimova: "The INtonations Festival has become the main industrial platform for those who work with sound"

The grand opening of the IX International Film Festival of Student Works of Sound Engineers "INtonations" took place at the Saint Petersburg State University of Film and Television. More than 500 applications from 22 countries were submitted to the Festival, 69 works are included in the competition program.

The IX International Film Festival of Student Works by Sound Engineers INtonations has set a new record for the number of applications for participation. In total, the organizers received 576 works, of which 114 came from Russian film schools and 462 from foreign ones.
