GIKIT Expands Cooperation with China
From October 23 to 26, SPUFT participated in a conference in Jinan dedicated to the 5th anniversary of the China-Russia International Education Cooperation Alliance (CRIECU). Established in 2020, the alliance includes 28 Chinese universities and 21 Russian higher education institutions.
The key topic of the event was preparing Chinese students studying the Russian language for admission to Russian universities. The Head of the International Relations Office at SPUFT, Diana Markaryan, served as the official representative of our institute.
During negotiations with Dezhou University, Diana Markaryan provided Chinese colleagues with detailed information about the unique educational programs and fields of study offered by the Institute of Film and Television. The prospect of joint projects and student-faculty exchange programs was of particular interest to both sides.
Our university has been actively collaborating with Chinese partners for several years. For instance, students annually participate in the "Looking China" international film festival project, organized by Beijing Normal University.
The project's concept involves bringing together young filmmakers from around the world to create short documentary films about Chinese culture. Under the guidance of experienced curators, students produce their films on location in China, immersing themselves in the country's atmosphere and traditions.
Furthermore, an educational cooperation program between our institute and Hainan University has been in place since 2017. Graduates from the Chinese university enroll in SPUFT's master's degree programs in Dramaturgy, Television, and Folk Art Culture. Some of them continue their studies in postgraduate programs, while others return to work in their home country.
It is important to note that SPUFT accepts approximately fifty students from China annually. In this academic year, the number reached 51 people: 14 enrolled in full-time studies, and 37 in part-time studies.
"Our work in educating students from China is yielding results, and we see a steadily growing interest in our programs," summarized Svetlana Melnikova, Head of the Department of Dramaturgy and Film Studies.
